Bruce Morgan

(1948-)

Bruce was born in Washington State spending his younger years playing cowboy and riding bucking broncs in the rodeo, later he would relocate to Montana to continue his rodeo travels and study the art of sculpting.  It was in Montana that Bruce would begin a successful career in the film industry.  Bruce’s first movie role was in the renowned film “Heaven’s Gate”.

After completion of that first movie Bruce moved to the Hollywood area enjoying 22 years as a stuntman and character actor.  You can see Bruce’s film work in 80’s TV series such as “The Fall Guy”, “Murder, She Wrote” and “Simon and Simon” along with many films including “Old Gringo” and “A Time to Kill”.  During this time Bruce trained falling horses used in his stunt work and continued honing his sculpting skills.

Bruce’s life with horses and rodeo kept him studying all things cowboy spending many years learning to carve wax and clay figures eventually finding a passion for wood.

Bruce prides himself in keeping each of his wagon sculptures historically accurate while carving each intricate detail from wood.  Every chain, nailhead or railroad spike has been painstakingly carved from wood then aged to give the real-life appearance of metal or leather.

Each sculpture is an original work and are never reproduced.

Over the years Bruce has participated in numerous art shows and auctions including the C.M. Russell Museum Auction, Great Falls, MT as well as others such as Spokane Valley Arts Organization, Spokane Valley, WA and Dakota Plains Auction, Deadwood, SD.

Bruce enjoys sharing his stories of rodeo and stunt work along with his history of art work and has had the privilege of being a guest speaker at museums such as the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana and the Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas.

Bruce’s work has been shown in numerous galleries around the country and is currently featured in the Amazon Prime docuseries “The Story of Art in America”.
